Often times when we begin a new diet, we find that we need to give certain things up. Sometimes this means giving up meat, sometimes all forms of carbs, sometimes desserts, and sometimes etc etc etc (the list goes on and on).

Well in case you were wondering, in the scenario of going keto and drinking coffee, I am here to spread the good word. You do NOT have to give up your beloved beverage! Actually, the two are somewhat of a match made in heaven!

As many of us know, coffee has a TON of health benefits. To list a few:

  • Protect you against Parkinson’s
  • Prevents cavities
  • Taste amazing!

So How Does Coffee Work With Keto?

Great question!

Listen closely. Black coffee, this means no sugars or creamers, has virtually zero calories. Again, I said plain black coffee.

With a ketogenic diet revolving around keeping your body in ketosis and staying in the lower carbohydrate category, realistically you could drink all the black coffee you wanted! (I wouldn’t suggest that though because your heart might explode)

Please hear me though, the minute you start adding heaps of sugar and creamer to your coffee…….you are saying bye bye to your keto diet. (womp womp)

But I Don’t Like The Taste Of Black Coffee!

Well, let’s fix that!

The good news for you is there are alot of tasty keto coffee recipes out there that can not only fuel your coffee need, but also extend the life of the caffeine (active chemical in coffee) so you get more bang for your buck!

Today, I am going to cover 3 recipes for you to try and enjoy 🙂

Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof Coffee is going to be the most popular recipe. I have tried this multiple times and can say without a hesitation of doubt that this is very delicious!

All you need is this:

Vanilla Keto Coffee

Here we add a little more sweetness to the mix.

  • 1 cup of hot coffee
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Omega PowerCreamer (Game changer)
  • Few sprinkles of ground cinnamon
  • The ability to blend it all together

Heavy Keto Coffee

The name is a play on words. This coffee is a really nice treat with options!

  • 1 cup of hot coffee
  • 3-4 tbsp of heavy whipping cream
    • It’s all in the delivery!
    • Pour your desired amount of heavy whipping cream in a small sauce pan and heat gently while stirring until it’s frothy.
    • Pour your coffee and cream together and enjoy 🙂
    • BONUS! Add Cocoa Powder to the mix for an extra nice flavor

As I mentioned above, adding fats to your coffee extense the life of caffeine. It does this because fats are a slow digesting macro-nutrient, so when caffeine is taken in in conjunction with fat, the caffeine take much longer to hit your blood stream. This allows for a much smoother flow of energy.
